“Baroque Mississippi Diamonds” presents five composers, representing the furthest reaches of the Age of Exploration. Two arias by Vivaldi for Venetian opera houses, a center of commerce looking east, will be performed by Spanish mezzo-soprano, Nerea Berraondo.
The rest of the program will explore the Andean Baroque Route of Peru and the music from early Argentine Catholic missions with compositions by Juan Perez de Bocanegra and Domenico Zipoli, before returning to France and Germany with the music of Jean-Baptiste Stuck and J.S. Bach.
