Water Music on the Mississippi FAQs

Q. Do you have directions to the cruise?

A: Some GPS systems have difficulty finding the locations, so we do recommend using the park name (Bohemian Flats Park) in your GPS.

Q. Where do I park?

A. The parking lot is located in a Minneapolis Park. Parking is $1 per hour at the pay box and accepts credit card only for payment. Overflow parking is on the grass. Then proceed to check in at the boat entrance. Please don’t leave valuables in the car.

Q. Will the boat sail, rain, or shine?
A. Absolutely, the boats sail rain or shine! The boats can become fully enclosed, and the salons are climate controlled for your comfort. In the case of severe weather conditions or upon direction of the U.S. Coast Guard or National Weather Service, the boats may remain dockside until weather conditions improve. Please keep in mind that weather patterns change, and severe weather usually passes quickly. Also, if the day starts out with bad weather, it may be completely different by noon or evening.

Q. How should I dress?
A. We recommend festive but comfortable attire! Dress accordingly for the weather.

Q. Is the interior heated and/or air conditioned?
A. Yes, the upper and lower interior decks are climate controlled.

Q. What’s to expect?

A. Most likely we will go through the Lock and Dam at the beginning of the cruise. Enjoy your brunch while being amazed by engineering development. Musical performance starts around 12:45 on the lower deck. The lower deck seats 78 guests, with a total capacity of 110.

Q. Is the boat handicap accessible?
A. There’s limited handicap accessibility. Most manual wheelchairs can be accommodated on board with some assistance, but the boat crew is not able to accommodate motorized wheelchairs. The boat was built before the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was implemented and doesn’t meet the full state guidelines for handicap accessibility such as bathrooms, walkways or ramps according to the ADA. The Mississippi Queen Cruise boat docking facilities do have ramps which vary in angle due to river water levels and have limited gate and door openings of 32," along with United States Coast Guard-required 6″ thresholds at each exterior doorway. There is a ramp which will provide limited access over the doorway thresholds, but unless the location is inspected prior to boarding and the wheelchair size is defined to the boat crew in advance, we cannot guarantee that all types of wheelchairs can be accommodated. Manual wheelchairs of standard size and width can be accommodated.

Q. Is there a possibility I might get seasick?
A. The Mississippi River has very minimal wave movement for yachts of this size. Some movement may be felt, but it’s usually not too disturbing. Seasickness on board is rare.

Q. Is smoking allowed on board?
A. This is a non-smoking vessel. Please refrain from smoking during the duration of your cruise.

Q. What are payment options?
A.  Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards are accepted, and cash is accepted onboard the boat. Remember, one drink is included in the ticket already!

Q. Are there vegetarian or special diet options available?

A. The alternative choice is Roasted Acorn Squash with Quinoa and Roasted Vegetables - you will be able to note this during the registration process.

Q. Are outside alcoholic beverages allowed?
A. No. Due to Minnesota State Law, outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Q. Food Allergens Notice
A. Paradise Charter Cruises makes efforts to identify ingredients that may cause allergic reactions for those individuals with food allergies. Items marked gluten-friendly are made with no gluten-containing ingredients. Effort is made to instruct their food production staff on the severity of food allergies. Because of the number of meals served and the number of items used each day, along with food product changes from their food vendors, it cannot be guaranteed that every allergen in the food served will be identified and labeled. There is the possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods they use could change the formulation at any time, without advance notice. Customers concerned with food allergies must be aware of this risk. The company cannot assume any liability for adverse reactions to food consumed, or items one may encounter. They cannot guarantee that food allergens will not be transferred through accidental cross-contact. Passengers with life threatening food allergies who may need to use an epi-pen should be carrying their own. The Mississippi Queen staff is NOT trained to administer epi-pens and CANNOT provide or administer them. In the event of a reaction, please notify their staff at once, so proper help/assistance may be contacted.
